Our commitment is to raise money to support life-saving research and treatment of leukaemia and cancers of the blood. We’d suffer anything for this cause – feeling how we do about it.

The Blood Fund raises funds to support life-saving research into the causes and treatment of leukaemia and other blood cancers. 
Its goal is simple: to create a better future for patients both here in the UK and abroad.

1 in 3 of us will be diagnosed with some type of cancer in our lifetime. It is believed that leukaemia is the model of all cancers and achieving a greater understanding of this disease will help in the fight against all other forms of cancer.

The Blood Fund provides extra support for the haematology department at Hammersmith Hospital. We support the department’s world-renowned research and outstanding care for patients with blood disorders, including leukaemia, lymphoma, myeloma, sickle cell disease and haemophilia.

We want to ensure hospital staff can continue to provide exceptional care to patients by offering extra funding these key areas:

• Expanding the clinical trials unit: Investing in pioneering clinical trials will enable the department to offer patients new drugs and treatments, maintaining Hammersmith Hospital’s status as a world leader in blood disorders.

• Increasing the number of specialist nurses: Providing extra clinical nurse specialists in the department will help staff to continue delivering the highest quality care and support to patients and their families.

• Funding research that changes lives: Providing early funding for innovative research projects will help to develop our young doctors and scientists, and create a new generation of experts in the field.

• Improving the hospital environment: Creating welcoming waiting areas, with new seating, reliable WiFi and artwork on the walls, will help patients feel more comfortable during what can be a difficult time

Imperial Health Charity is the official charity for Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, which includes Hammersmith Hospital and all of the incredible donations made by the Fireflies will go towards supporting the Blood Fund.
